Google Translate could soon auto-save transcripts of your Live conversations (Updated: Rolling out)

Google Translate is testing an “Auto-save transcript” toggle in Live Translate settings for mobile users.
Transcript saving will be completely disabled when smart glasses are connected and in use to protect privacy.
Users will be able to use voice commands to start translation on smart glasses, while a swipe on the touchpad will end the session.

Original article, September 29, 2026 (06:16 AM ET): Google Translate has been steadily upgrading its translation capabilities, from introducing background translation features to prepping Android XR-specific listening boundaries. We’ve now spotted Google working on an auto-save feature for Live Translate transcripts, but only for mobile users, as the company seems to plan to block transcript saving entirely when translation occurs through XR smart glasses.
