(KRON) -- An incident in which someone from a nearby residence shot a laser onto the field during a North Bay high school football game is under investigation. The incident occurred last Friday, Oct. 9 during a game at Marin County Catholic High School.
The Marin County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the incident, the school told KRON4 News. Photos shared with KRON4 by the school show what appears to be an individual standing on a balcony directing a laser toward the football field.
According to reports in the San Francisco Chronicle and the Marin Independent Journal, there is a longstanding dispute between the school and neighbors over the environmental impact over stadium lights.
According to the Marin County Sheriff's Department, there was a deputy at the game when the incident occurred. The deputy immediately began investigating to try and determine the source of the laser.
A player told officials that he saw a dot from the laser on himself and on the football. However, no players reported having the laser shown in their eyes.
There was no stoppage of play as a result of the incident.
The investigation remains active, sheriff's department officials said.
