INDIANAPOLIS — Showers fade away tonight and the next week is going to feature plenty of sunshine and dry conditions.  A widespread frost or freeze is expected Saturday night and Sunday morning.

FRIDAY NIGHT:

Scattered evening showers and breezy conditions will keep the fall feel going for the last night of the high school football regular season.  Clouds will clear overnight and temperatures will cool into the 30s to lower 40s.  The wind should remain elevated enough to keep a widespread freeze off the table, but if you live in a sheltered spot you may want to protect your plants just to be safe.

SATURDAY:

Abundant sunshine returns along with crisp, cool fall air. Look for highs mainly in the 50s.   Winds will ease during the day as high pressure moves in.  There will be plenty of blue sky overhead in Bloomington for the big Indiana football game against Ohio State.

SATURDAY NIGHT:

Clear & cold. Lows in the mid to low 30s will support a widespread frost threat.  Some spots could get a freeze. You will want to cover tender vegetation or bring your plants indoors.

SUNDAY:

Mostly sunny skies continue. Temperatures moderate back into the low to mid 60s.  Temperatures in the 30s Sunday night could pose another frost threat in some spots.

NEXT WEEK:

A pattern known as an omega block is going to set up shop across the Lower 48.  This will keep the storm track backed up across the country, resulting in a prolonged period of sunny days with seasonably mild air.  Highs will gradually warm into the low to mid 70s while overnight low moderate back into the 40s.  No rain is expected for at least the next week.
