Apple has released the trailer for “Heart,” a new eight-episode true-crime podcast hosted by Karen Kilgariff, best known for co-hosting the hit podcast “My Favorite Murder.” The series tells the extraordinary true story of Sonny Graham, a man who received a lifesaving heart transplant and later fell in love with the widow of his heart donor, Terry Cottle.

At first, the relationship made headlines as an incredible story of love and second chances. But years later, the story took a devastating turn. Graham sadly died by suicide, the same manner of death as the man whose heart had saved his life.
As family members and friends recalled changes in Graham’s behavior following the transplant, some began questioning whether the donated heart could somehow carry traces of its previous owner’s emotional trauma. It’s a fascinating but scientifically unproven theory that sits in the middle of the podcast’s exploration of grief, identity and the mysteries surrounding organ transplantation.
The series is based on three years of reporting and draws on court documents, public records and interviews with the families involved, examining the remarkable connections between the two men and the loved ones they left behind.
